What a great afternoon – a bunch of City of Ely adult netballers travelled down to the Copper Box Arena in London to watch Australia vs South Africa and then England vs New Zealand in the first matches of the Quad Series 2018. In a thrilling England match, a score of 49 – 49 at full time meant we were treated to extra time where England smashed it with a 64 – 57 win!
Now to translate that inspiration into our own game!
Congratulations to our very own Sue Deas for being shortlisted for Living Sport Sports Awards for Services to Sport.
Sue has been recognized for her dedication to grassroots netball. Her many contributions span over 15 years of bring netballing opportunities to all ages. She was particularly recognised for her role as Junior Coordinator of City of Ely Netball club where she manages all administrative aspects of the Junior club as well as being principal coach, running the weekly training sessions, managing and umpiring matches, coordinates the adult volunteers, umpires, and supporting the girls through their development.
Her commitment outside of Junior’s was also recognised, including being our most active fundraiser, umpiring CDNL and County matches, mentoring umpires, coaching ours and other adult teams, and being an amazing team player.
Sue has made an outstanding contribution to local sport and being shortlisted for this award gives her the public recognition that she deserves.
Huge Thanks to Stormport who have given City of Ely Netball Club JUNIORS £100 sponsorship.
By majority decision, we have bought a set of PINK bibs and 5 new Mitre match play netballs. Thank you Rachel, U16 Abbie’s mum, for organising this, we are very pleased and the new kit will be used every week! I am guessing the adult players will want to use the pink bibs too!
